"I will be your friend"

(1 Samuel 18:3)
"Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul."

Abram became the friend of God, David became the friend of Jonathan and we became the friend of Jesus Christ. In each case, this friendship led to sacrificial love and they had a kindred spirit. (I Samuel 18:3)

In John 15:15 Jesus said,

"I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known to you."

Our new relationship has made the Godhead our friends.
