Your CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT Awards

character awards

When we made this website we thought about what we wanted you to become, and two Bible verses came to mind. The first is 1 Samuel 13:14, "The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart…" And the second is 1 Samuel 16:18 which describes the character of David in the words of someone who knew him. You will be receiving lessons on many, many subjects but when all is said and done these "Character Development Awards" will spell out what we want you to be.

As you continue doing lessons we want to give you something that we think is valuable, something you could keep the rest of your life. It is something that will help you as you grow physically, educationally, financially, and most of all spiritually.

It has many pieces to it and when you have all the pieces we are sure you will agree that it is valuable. When you do just three more lessons we will give you the first one. We will give you these pieces as you complete your lessons. There will be a picture piece every time you earn 500 points right through to 10,000 points. After that, the awards will come at every thousand points. We call these pieces “picture awards” and they eventually become one big picture for you with powerful concepts.

As you do your lessons you will notice that you are congratulated after each correct lesson. As you reach every award level there will be a special hotlink on that congratulations page that takes you to “Your award.” Click on that link and go to the award page where you will find instructions for getting that award picture.

Collect all these awards as you keep doing lessons. The awards tell a special story. Some day I’m sure you will say, “I see, I see!”

Suggestions on what to do with the Picture Awards

First of all, you will need the free Adobe Reader to see and print your pictures. So go to this Adobe site first if you don't have Adobe Reader installed in your computer.

Making the best use of the awards could be a good CRAFT project for you, maybe with some help from another family member. Here are some helpful tips and ideas for you as you print your awards:

  • Use high quality paper like photo paper and adjust your printer's settings to high/best quality (the better the paper the better the picture will look — we recommend 200 gram glossy paper.) When you "print" from the Reader file you will be given an opportunity in the PDF dialogue box to make adjustments in the way it prints — go to "Print Handling" and make sure "Page Scaling" is set to "none".
  • If you prefer not to print the award pictures on your own, you can easily save the Adobe Reader file to your computer and then copy it to a floppy disc, memory stick, CD or whatever you use, and then take it to a Staples, Kinko's, Wal-Mart or any other store that prints photos and get it done there quite cheaply.
  • Go to a store like Wal-Mart and buy simple certificate picture frames (8.5"x11") for displaying each of your awards. These frames are not expensive so you may want to buy a few at a time so you're ready for the next award(s). As you get your award pictures into frames, you can begin to display them on your wall. We will give you some ideas with later awards concerning how to position them in order.
  • Instead of using separate picture frames for each award picture, you could build a shadow box using just two frames. As you get a new award picture, you simply open your shadow box and place it on top of the previous picture. (More details on how to build a shadow box can be found on this page.)
  • Another great alternative to picture frames is to buy a photo album, presentation book or swing-ring sheet protectors with enough pages or clear plastic pockets to hold at least 32 pictures.
  • Or if you bought a box of 20 or 50 sheets of photo paper, you may just want to keep that box for storing your award pictures.

Remember, you will get your first picture award after you do your 5th lesson and earn 500 points. So keep doing your lessons!
