Lesson 21: Living Above the Little Sins

SCRIPTURE PASSAGES

...BACK TO LESSON 21

(All Scripture quotations are from the NET Bible)

Psalm 139:1-12 - "O Lord, you examine me and know. You know when I sit down and when I get up; even from far away you understand my motives. You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest; you are aware of everything I do. Certainly my tongue does not frame a word without you, O Lord, being thoroughly aware of it. You squeeze me in from behind and in front; you place your hand on me. Your knowledge is beyond my comprehension; it is so far beyond me, I am unable to fathom it. Where can I go to escape your spirit? Where can I flee to escape your presence? If I were to ascend to heaven, you would be there. If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be. If I were to fly away on the wings of the dawn, and settle down on the other side of the sea, even there your hand would guide me, your right hand would grab hold of me. If I were to say, 'Certainly the darkness will cover me, and the light will turn to night all around me,' even the darkness is not too dark for you to see, and the night is as bright as day; darkness and light are the same to you."

Psalm 25:21 - "May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you!"

Daniel 6:1-5 - "It seemed like a good idea to Darius to appoint over the kingdom 120 satraps who would be in charge of the entire kingdom. Over them would be three supervisors, one of whom was Daniel. These satraps were accountable to them, so that the king’s interests might not incur damage. Now this Daniel was distinguishing himself above the other supervisors and the satraps, for he had an extraordinary spirit. In fact, the king intended to appoint him over the entire kingdom. Consequently the supervisors and satraps were trying to find some pretext against Daniel in connection with administrative matters. But they were unable to find any such damaging evidence, because he was trustworthy and guilty of no negligence or corruption. So these men concluded, 'We won’t find any pretext against this man Daniel unless it is in connection with the law of his God.'"

Psalm 41:12 - "As for me, you uphold me because of my integrity; you allow me permanent access to your presence."

Proverbs 11:3 - "The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroys them."

Psalm 15:4 - "He despises a reprobate, but honors the Lord’s loyal followers. He makes firm commitments and does not renege on his promise."

1 John 3:5 - "And you know that Jesus was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin."

1 John 3:6 - "Everyone who resides in him does not sin; everyone who sins has neither seen him nor known him."
