Salt has two major values: it prevents decay, and it brings out the flavor in foods. As God’s people, we are to have the same influence in our society: standing for what is right in the midst of moral decay, and making life tasty with our positive impact on others.

When we live for Christ, we are like lights—pushing back the darkness and showing what Christ is like by our good deeds.

The wise builder and the foolish one both heard the words of Jesus. The crucial difference was in their response: the wise builder put these truths into practice by his obedience, whereas the foolish builder did not. He just ignored the implications of what Jesus had said.

So, how salty are you…how bright is your light…how wise are you building?
